Hiding/Publishing Contact Details in the Whois of a .TEL Domain Name

You have the option not to have your Contact Details displayed in the Whois Lookup result of a .TEL domain name, if you are registering it as an individual. You may choose this option at the time of Registration.

To Hide/Publish Contact Details of a Registered .TEL Domain Name

Hiding Contact Details (Anchor: hiding)

  1. Login to your Control Panel. See details

  2. Search for the .TEL domain name and proceed to the Order Details view. See details

    About Lock / Suspension 

    Note

    If the domain name is Locked/Suspended, you will have to first get it Unlocked/Unsuspended it before proceeding further.

    For Resellers: If the domain name is Locked by you, you may proceed without Unlocking it.

    For Resellers: If the domain name is Locked by Cloud Hostingo (from Gestrs.com), you need to get it Unlocked first. Contact us at [email protected].

    For Resellers: If the domain name is Suspended by either you or Cloud Hostingo (from Gestrs.com), it needs to be first Unsuspended, before you can proceed.

  3. Click the Publish Whois Optout link.

  4. Select the Enable Contact Privacy (I am an individual) radio button and then click the Update Contact Privacy Status button.

Whois Lookup Data 

Note
  • The Whois Lookup will display only the Registrant Contact Name, Administrative Contact Name, Technical Contact Name and Billing Contact Name. Address, Phone Number, Facsimile Number and Email Address associated with these Contacts will not be displayed.

  • The complete Contact Details are required to be published in the Whois Lookup results, if a .TEL domain name is registered to a Company, Business, Partnership, Non-Profit Entity, Association, or other types of Legal constructs.

  • If you are transferring away your .TEL domain name from Cloud Hostingo (from Gestrs.com), you need to first publish the Contact Details of your .TEL domain name and then place a Transfer request at the Registrar of your choice.

Publishing Contact Details (if already hidden) (Anchor: publishing)

  1. Login to your Control Panel. See details

  2. Search for the .TEL domain name and proceed to the Order details view. See details

  3. Click the Publish Whois Optout link.

  4. Select the Disable Contact Privacy radio button and then click the Update Contact Privacy Status button.

Errors 

Note

You will encounter the below error message in case the domain name is either:

  • Locked/Suspended at the Registry (and not under our system), or

  • a Transfer Away for the domain name to another Registrar is under process

Attention

Domain Status does not allow this operation.

If you wish to modify your domain name's Privacy Protection status in these circumstances, you have the following solutions:

  • Lock/Suspension applied at the Registry: Contact our Support Team at [email protected] to know the reason for Lock/Suspension and how this Lock/Suspension may be removed.

  • While a Transfer Away is under process:

    • Cancel the Transfer through the link listed in the email sent to the Registrant/Administrative Contact of the domain name and then perform the required modification, or

    • Wait for the Transfer to complete and then carry out the desired modification at the New Registrar.
